The Ultimate Guide to Taking Apart an Adult Pacifier
How to Safely Take Apart an Adult Pacifier
Adult pacifiers can be a comforting accessory, and sometimes you may need to take them apart—whether to replace the nipple or clean hard-to-reach areas. However, improper disassembly can lead to damage. Follow this guide for safely taking apart your adult pacifier without risking unnecessary wear and tear.
When Should You Take Apart a Pacifier?
You should only take apart your pacifier when:
- Replacing the nipple: If the nipple has worn out or needs an upgrade.
- Customizing parts: To swap out specific components for a personalized touch.
Note: Regular cleaning does not require disassembly. Hand washing the pacifier with warm water and mild soap is sufficient.
Step-by-Step Guide to Taking Apart Your Pacifier
-
Identify the Connection Points:
Most adult pacifiers consist of three main parts: the shield, the handle, and the nipple. Locate the small pieces that connect these components. With our adult pacifiers this point is the handle that goes into the button. -
Work with Care:
Using your hands work on one side of the button. Gently tug on one side to remove handle from the hole in the center button. Once one side is removed you may now gentle remove the other side. (Other adult pacifiers may be slightly different, these instructions are for size 6 adult pacifiers) -
Remove the Nipple:
Once the handle is detached, pull up on the button center. The nipple will still be attached to the button. Gently remove the button. The nipple can now be pushed or pulled through its slot on the shield. -
Avoid Stressing Weak Points:
Be mindful of the handle base. This area is a common breaking point if too much force is applied. -
Keep Parts Organized:
Place the removed pieces on a clean surface to avoid losing any small parts.
Tips for Reassembly:
- Ensure all parts are completely dry before putting them back together to avoid moisture buildup.
- Align the nipple at an angle to reinsert to the shield.
- Make sure the nipple is secured on the button to avoid deflation.
- You can tug on nipple after assembled to center.
- Put one side of handle on first, then snap the handle back onto the button gently, ensuring a secure fit without forcing it.
Caution:
Frequent disassembly can cause wear and tear, particularly to the handle. If you’re unsure about the process, consider using guides or videos for your specific pacifier model.
