Shipping to the EU after Dec. 13th 2024
What’s Still Available for EU Customers
While we’re pausing shipments of most handmade products to the EU, we’re happy to share that our clothing items remain available for EU customers. This is possible because our clothing is sourced from suppliers within the EU, ensuring compliance with the new regulations. All other products, however, will require further research before we can resume shipping.
Why We’re Temporarily Suspending Shipping to the EU
As a small business, we value every customer who supports us, no matter where in the world they’re located. Over the years, we’ve had the pleasure of shipping our handmade creations to many countries, including those in the European Union (EU). However, due to recent regulatory changes, we have made the difficult decision to temporarily stop shipping most products to the EU. Here’s why and what it means for the future of our shop.
The New EU Requirements
As of [specific date], the EU has implemented new laws that require businesses outside the EU to appoint a local representative within the EU. This representative would handle tax and legal matters on behalf of the business. While the intention behind this regulation is to protect consumers and streamline trade compliance, it presents significant challenges for small businesses like ours.
Challenges for Small Businesses
-
Cost: Appointing an EU representative involves fees that are substantial for a small business. This added cost, coupled with existing expenses like shipping and materials, would require us to raise prices, which we’re hesitant to do.
-
Complexity: Complying with these new laws also means navigating additional paperwork and legal processes. As a small, independent shop, we already manage all aspects of our business ourselves—from production to customer service—and these extra requirements are beyond our current capacity.
-
Risk: Failing to meet the new standards, even unintentionally, could lead to significant penalties. Until we fully understand how to comply, we want to avoid any potential risks.
Our Commitment to EU Customers
We’re deeply sorry for any inconvenience this decision may cause to our valued EU customers. Please know that this is a temporary measure as we work to explore options for compliance with the new regulations. Your support has meant so much to us, and we hope to find a solution that allows us to resume full shipping to the EU in the near future.
What’s Next?
While we navigate these changes, here’s how we’re planning to move forward:
-
Researching Compliance Options: We’re actively exploring partnerships with services or representatives that specialize in EU compliance for small businesses. If a feasible option arises, we’ll work to reinstate full EU shipping as soon as possible.
-
Expanding Availability Elsewhere: We’ll continue to ship to other countries and regions while maintaining our commitment to quality and customer satisfaction.
-
Keeping You Informed: Transparency is important to us, so we’ll provide updates on our progress through our website, social media channels, and newsletters.
Thank You for Your Understanding
Running a small business comes with its challenges, but the support and encouragement from customers like you make it all worthwhile. We’re hopeful that we can overcome this obstacle and once again bring our creations to our wonderful customers in the EU. In the meantime, we appreciate your understanding and patience as we navigate these changes.
